Protect the name behind your expertise.

A Washington-area consultancy, association, or government-services business may build its reputation through programs and ongoing relationships. We help identify which names carry that reputation forward.

The organization and its signature programs

A recurring conference or training program may become a brand of its own. We help prioritize those identities alongside the organization’s name.

From contract title to commercial service

An internal project label is not always the right public-facing brand. Our team can help assess ownership, naming, and filing questions when an offering reaches a broader customer base.

SELECTED FIVE-STAR GOOGLE REVIEWS

Experience matters.
So does the relationship.

A few questions before we begin.

Can a consulting firm trademark a service name rather than a product?

Yes, a mark can identify services. The application must accurately describe those services and meet its filing-basis requirements. Bring examples connecting the name to the services clients receive, rather than only an entity-formation document or a logo file. Counsel can assess whether the use is sufficient for filing.

USPTO: specimens of use

Does a government vendor registration clear our company trademark?

No. Vendor registration and trademark clearance are different processes. Search relevant commercial uses and federal records before assuming the name is available. A similar brand used for related consulting or technology services may matter even if the other provider is not pursuing the same government contract.

USPTO: trademark searching

How our trademark searches work

Can an association protect its conference or educational-program name?

Potentially, if the name functions as a source identifier and otherwise qualifies. Identify the actual services, the owner, and how the name is used over time. A program brand should be evaluated separately from a descriptive event theme, an individual publication title, or the association’s corporate name.

USPTO: strong trademarks

Is responding to a refusal of a consulting-firm name included in the flat fee?

Substantive office-action responses and standalone office-action matters are billed at current hourly rates. Limited nonsubstantive responses are included only where expressly covered by the qualifying package and engagement. Send the entire notice and deadline for a scope assessment; the nature of the refusal determines the work involved.

Office-action response options

Should a Washington association prioritize its conference name or organization name?

Compare the identities attendees, members, and sponsors rely on. Bring registration pages, event history, and the plans for future editions. A continuing conference identity can deserve a different filing priority from an internal project title.

Can a government-services contractor treat a contract vehicle name as its own brand?

Review who selected the name, who may use it, and what the contract authorizes. Bring the award documents and commercial marketing proposal. Federal procurement status is a separate question from ownership and clearance of your customer-facing trademark.
