Keep the business behind the creative work in focus.
A Los Angeles creator or entertainment business may build a name across productions, digital content, and merchandise. We help connect those uses to a trademark strategy for the continuing business.
More than the title of one release
A studio identity, recurring series, and single film title raise different questions. We help you separate the brand customers return to from the individual work they watch or buy.
When the audience becomes a product market
Merchandise and licensing can extend your reach while adding ownership and clearance questions. Our team can help address those before a partner begins selling under your name.
A few questions before we begin.
Can I trademark the title of a single Los Angeles film or album?
A title used only for one creative work generally does not register as a trademark for that work. A series title or a separate brand identifying ongoing goods or services can raise a different analysis. Counsel should examine the actual uses; simply announcing a possible sequel does not resolve the issue.

Should an entertainment brand file for apparel as well as production services?
Only if the filing basis and actual or genuinely intended activities support that coverage. Entertainment services and branded clothing can require different descriptions and classes. Build the filing around the business plan, not a wish list of every product a creator might someday license. Additional government fees can apply.

Can a creator’s launch artwork serve as the trademark specimen?
Artwork alone is not necessarily evidence of trademark use. The specimen must show the mark actually used in the relevant commercial setting and satisfy the requirements for the claimed goods or services. Promotional materials for services and product labeling are evaluated differently. Send genuine examples before choosing the filing basis.

What should a Los Angeles business do before licensing its name to a merchandise partner?
Identify the owner, permitted goods, approved branding, quality-control process, and responsibility for filings and enforcement. Review existing agreements before making new commitments. DBA can discuss trademark portfolio and licensing needs under a separate hourly engagement; licensing terms are not part of the $2,700 search-and-application package.

Which name should a Los Angeles creator prioritize: channel, series, or one release?
Compare the continuing source identity with titles used for individual works. A single-work title presents different registration issues from a series brand. Bring the release schedule and examples showing how the audience encounters each name.

What should a production team settle before a merchandise partner prints a creator name?
Set out the owner, approved products, artwork approvals, quality review, and sell-off arrangements in the licensing discussion. Confirm who is responsible for searching the merchandise brand before manufacturing starts. This substantive licensing work is hourly.
Substantive advice, substantive office-action responses, and portfolio management are billed at our current hourly rates. Intent-to-use matters follow a separate fee schedule. See pricing and scope.
